A Single Moms Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful moms out there. I hope everyone has a great day. I want to share with you all how sweet my seven year old is. I woke up this morning at 8:30 to breakfast in bed. He brought me in a tray with waffles, syrup, butter, and diet pepsi. I'm a big Diet Pepsi fan (however not usually in the morning) so he brought me that to drink because he knows its my favorite. Its the thought. So i layed in bed eating my delicious Eggo waffles while he sat there and watched me...he was taking pride in making me happy. Then I got two wonderful homemade cards....you really can't beat homemade. He always gets so excited to give me things that he makes because he knows I really do love them. See, who needs a husband when you have a son like that?! He's gonna make some girl very happy one day!

Later on, we're gonna head down to the Cape (Cod) to go out to dinner with my parents and siblings. So, so far my Mothers Day is pretty good.

How are you spending your mothers day?

Happy St. Patty's Day

The big thing around here for St. Patricks Day is the Southie parade. Every year South Boston holds an enormous St. Patty's Day parade on the sunday before March 17. The streets are filled with on-lookers from all over, completely decked out in green. Its so much fun to see what people show up in...talk about Irish spirit. The saying "Everyone is Irish on St. Patricks Day" holds true during the parade, however most of Southie is Irish. Its not even really all about the parade either, its about the parties before and after the parade. Good food and beer!

We go to the parade every year. My boyfriend lives in Southie and I work with a girl who lives there too, so we've always had a place to go. We usually enjoy the festivities before the parade, watch the parade which lasts 2 hours, and go back and enjoy some more festivities. Its the one constant of the year that we both look forward too.

So here are a few pictures from this years parade:

And Miss Blondie and her boyfriend, and yes believe it or not, he is half Irish!!

Sumo Time!!

I hope everyone had a great halloween....we did!! We went trick or treating at my mom's neighborhood as we do every year but this year all the kids were done about halfway through our normal route. Of course, i wanted to keep going, so we could selfishly get more candy that I could eat. But they were bored and had had enough! I probably shouldn't complain because we didn't get the usual over-the-top obnoxious amount of candy and that'll save me from gaining about 15lbs because lets face it.....he's not gonna eat it all. So i thought i'd share pictures of his costume with you all...he picked it out because he thought it was funny...which it is.
He was a Sumo Wrestler!! This is so his type of humor too.

Didn't he make the cutest sumo wrestler EVER?! He had the stance down and everything!

Here I am with him totally in character.

Guess who....

made an appearance at my house FINALLY??!!! The tooth fairy!! This is a few days late, he actually lost his first tooth sunday night but with my injury and his birthday i haven't gotten the chance to blog about it. I was amazed at how long it took for him to loose a tooth especially since he got his first tooth at 4 months! He wanted the $5 from the tooth fairy so bad, he was tieing dental floss around it and to a doorknob and shutting the door. When that didn't work he tied it to the faucet and would turn the water off really fast trying to pull it out!! He cracks me up...so resourceful! However, neither of those attempts worked. I ended up pulling it mostly out and let him finish it because he wanted to do it himself.

And get this, he wants me to call him "toothless." ooookay!

Seven Years Ago.....

Seven years ago, was only a week after 9/11, and i gave birth at 1:12pm to a 7lb 60z baby boy after 25 long hours of labor.

Today, that baby boy turned 7! I dropped him off at first grade today with cupcakes for his class and plan to go to Monster Golf after school. My God, where did the time go? How am i mother of a 7 year old little man?!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUNTER!!!!!!
* In other news, just to update you all on my bruised liver situation, i went to my PCP yesterday to follow up and after she read the radiologists report of my CAT scan determined that i need an MRI. There is a mass on my liver that could be a direct result of the impact. I'm hoping that the MRI shows that its just a hematoma and nothing to be concerned with but as soon as i have the test done i will let you all know. Keep your fingers crossed that its nothing too serious. Also, Mr. Universe stopped by yesterday to see how i was doing and brought me flowers, recees peanut butter cups (my fav.), a toy for Hunter, and pizza for dinner (so i wouldn't have to cook)! How sweet was that!! He scored mucho brownie points for that one!
