Boys, Boys, Boys

The last time i updated you all on my dating situation with Mr. Universe and how he swooped in like a knight in shining armor and took care of me while i was injured. Since then he took me out for lunch was afternoon, which was nice. I have written off Hot Daddy and Blue Eyes. I know most of you were rooting for Blue Eyes but it turned out he was kinda shady and really really into photography (if ya know what i mean). I'm all set with that! Esp. when someone likes to send those pics to their friends.

So, moving on.

Two weeks ago i went to a red sox game and afterwards went to a bar across the street from Fenway. My girlfriend and i were standing near the bar, drinking, talking, when i noticed this small group of guys standing near us. One in particular caught my eye. When i'm drinking i can be very forward and fearless. So i checked him out...made sure he wasn't wearing a wedding ring...i'm pretty sure he noticed me checking him out too. But i dont care. Without thinking too much into it, i went right up to him and grabbed him and started chatting it up with him. Yup, that's right....I approached him! And we hit it off! Go Miss Blondie!

My girlfriend took an interest in one of his friends, so we spent the remainder of the evening talking with the boys. As it turns out, he had surgery at my hospital on his elbow back in february by one of my favorite surgeons. That was just one of the many things we had in common.

A little bit about him:
He has really nice blue eyes, he's 38, never been married, has no kids, is a Boston Firefighter(hubba hubba), and a plumber, and very respectful. Oh yeah, and he's 6'4"....i'm only 5'2". So i guess we will call him Moose. Only b/c he his so much taller than i am, not because he looks like one or anything. And most importantly, we have GREAT chemistry together.

We've talked on the phone a few times since then but hadn't gone out. Until tuesday. I received a text message while i was at work from him saying i should swing by the firehouse on my way home. Honestly, i was a little apprehensive at first. My hair looked like crap from being in my scrub hat all day. Once i left work i called him with the intentions of telling him no. But quickly changed my mind. I told him i couldn't stay late b/c i had to get up the next morning and i was on-call for the OR. Yeah, like that ever happens, right?!?

I was there for only about a half hour when they got a call and let me tell you it was like being in the movies. Now, my grandfather was a firefighter but i had never been there when they got a call. All of a sudden, all these buff men come sliding down the pole and they were in the truck and gone in less than a minute. It was the coolest thing to see! Moose told me to wait and if he wasn't back in a half hour to leave. I decided to wait. They returned about 15 minutes later b/c they got called to turn back around. When they came back, he introduced me to some of the guys and we watched a movie with them. I left a couple hours later, much later than i wanted but believe me, i am NOT complaining.

Hunter and I are going up to Maine friday night because i have to judge a bodybuilding show up there on saturday. So, Moose and i have decided if i'm home early enough on saturday we'll go out then or on sunday. Also, Mr. Universe will be at the bodybuilding show on saturday because he's the promoter. Ya know, its not easy juggling two guys! Lol! But hey, this is the best part about being single and dating! I'll keep you all updated on Moose and Mr. Universe!

Guess who....

made an appearance at my house FINALLY??!!! The tooth fairy!! This is a few days late, he actually lost his first tooth sunday night but with my injury and his birthday i haven't gotten the chance to blog about it. I was amazed at how long it took for him to loose a tooth especially since he got his first tooth at 4 months! He wanted the $5 from the tooth fairy so bad, he was tieing dental floss around it and to a doorknob and shutting the door. When that didn't work he tied it to the faucet and would turn the water off really fast trying to pull it out!! He cracks me up...so resourceful! However, neither of those attempts worked. I ended up pulling it mostly out and let him finish it because he wanted to do it himself.

And get this, he wants me to call him "toothless." ooookay!

Seven Years Ago.....

Seven years ago, was only a week after 9/11, and i gave birth at 1:12pm to a 7lb 60z baby boy after 25 long hours of labor.

Today, that baby boy turned 7! I dropped him off at first grade today with cupcakes for his class and plan to go to Monster Golf after school. My God, where did the time go? How am i mother of a 7 year old little man?!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUNTER!!!!!!
* In other news, just to update you all on my bruised liver situation, i went to my PCP yesterday to follow up and after she read the radiologists report of my CAT scan determined that i need an MRI. There is a mass on my liver that could be a direct result of the impact. I'm hoping that the MRI shows that its just a hematoma and nothing to be concerned with but as soon as i have the test done i will let you all know. Keep your fingers crossed that its nothing too serious. Also, Mr. Universe stopped by yesterday to see how i was doing and brought me flowers, recees peanut butter cups (my fav.), a toy for Hunter, and pizza for dinner (so i wouldn't have to cook)! How sweet was that!! He scored mucho brownie points for that one!

Trip to the ER

At work they just finished renovating the OR (where I work). The floors are brand new and pretty slippery when wet. So yesterday, i went out to scrub at the sink and there was a puddle of water that i didn't see (of course) and slipped and caught myself on the scrub sink. I smashed the left side of my abdomen, right under my ribs, on the sink. I went and told the necessary people that i had slipped but i thought that i was fine. It hurt but it would go away.

Right?

Not my luck.

I scrubbed into surgery and as i was standing there the pain got progressively worse. After about 40minutes i started to cry because the pain was so intense. It was this awful stabbing pain. The surgeon i was working with was concerned about my liver. I left the OR in a wheelchair and was brought down to the ER.

Now anyone who has ever been to the ER knows that things do not move fast down there. You are pretty much guaranteed to sit there for hours! Well not me yesterday! The ER dr. was so concerned that i had lacerated my liver and was internally bleeding that everything moved right along. At first they thought i would need an x-ray because maybe i had broken my ribs, but when i was examined it wasn't my ribs that hurt but right underneath where my liver is. So a CAT scan it is!

So they make me drink this contrast and its my choice of which clear liquid i want to mix it with. Apple juice, ginger ale, or cranberry juice. So i choose ginger ale. The nurse tells me that you can't really taste it anyways.

Um...yeah, he lied.

Maybe i should've chosen a different clear liquid.

It was nasty! That's all i can describe it as.

You are supposed to drink this giant, disgusting drink of contrast over a period of two hours but because they thought i was internally bleeding i only drank one cup full and was whisked off to CAT scan.

In CAT scan i climb up on the bed and lay there. The nurse begins to tell me that they are going to inject me with some contrast through my IV that is going to make me feel like i'm peeing my pants. What? Ok!

They begin the scan and inject me with the contrast. I suddenly got this warm sensation in my throat that worked its way down my body. Yup, i felt like i was peeing my pants! It was the weirdest most uncomfortable warm feeling ever! I was glad when the scan was over.

So back to the ER i went to await my results. Boy i hope i didn't lacerate my liver. I don't want to be admitted and spend a couple days in the hospital...all alone.

In comes Dr.

No internal bleeding! Yay!

However, there is a hematoma on my liver but its not bleeding. They give me vicodin, tell me to rest and take it easy, and no work until next monday.

So, now i'm home, sore with a bruised liver and all doped up on pain meds. And that was my trip to the ER.

Vote for Me!!!

I am so excited to tell you that i have been nominated for a Dottie Award over at Momdot.com. I'm nominated for Miss Congeniality. As much as i am happy just to be nominated....i would really like to win. I was never nominated for any superlatives back in high school and i'm still in therapy over it...very traumatizing. So i would really appreciate if you head on over to Momdot and vote for Miss Blondie as Miss Congeniality. Maybe then my ten years of therapy could be over.

Please go vote!! There's lots of other categories to vote in also!! Thanks!

Monday's Life Tip #7

Sorry its been a couple weeks since i've posted Monday's How to Live a Happier Healthier Life Tip.....i've been slacking. I tend to be an avid doer of this tip. And its usually at the most inconvenient times like while i'm driving or something. Probably not the best time. However it still is a really good tip but i suggest you do it not while driving or operating heavy machinery.

Tip #7:

Dream more while you are awake.

Dear Tom,

Dear Tom,

I know its taken me a couple days to write this letter, but i needed time to come to terms with what happened on sunday. I. Am. Devastated. The images of you being helped off the field, limping, will forever haunt me. I was hoping your injury wouldn't be that severe. But then when they said you wouldn't be returning to the game i knew it was bad. I knew it was your ACL. So as you may not know because we haven't officially met....yet.... i work in surgery. I fix ACL's all the time. So with that being said, i can totally nurse you back to health. More so than any supermodel. I'm sure she's good at a lot of things but for something like this , i think she needs to step aside and allow a professional to take over duties.

So, i am here to tell you, that i am volunteering my services to you. This is not an offer that comes frequently and i strongly urge you to accept. I would allow you to rest comfortably on my couch or yours (whichever you choose), i'll keep your pillows fluffed, and give you plenty of liquids. I'm also not a bad cook, so our candlelight dinners would be tasty. And on sundays, since i am a HUGE Patriots fan, we can watch our team and cheer them on....together. Being the Brady fan that i am, i am trying to be confident in our back-up quarterback but its so hard. I know that the Patriots are all about winning as a team but you are our star quarterback! Maybe we can be a support system for each other.

Please contact me soon so that i can help you on your road to recovery. I'll be patiently waiting by the phone to hear from you or your agent.

Yours Truly,

The Future Miss Blondie Brady

What do you think???

So Hunter's soccer game got cancelled today so i made him put on his jersey so i could take a picture and post about it. He was less than happy about it. I thought i'd let you all be the judge on whether or not you think the color of his team shirts are red-raspberry (like they say) or hot pink (like i say).

You decide:

I still say its friggin Hot Pink!! Although, i have to admit, he does look kinda cute in it.

Pink Shirts and Dates

Sorry i've been MIA for a few days...but i'm back now, so no worries. And i'm back with some stories. So first off, since it's fresh in my mind, Hunter started first grade yesterday. He said it was "awesome." His friends Madison and Brian are in his class and they all sat next to each other. Today was his first soccer practice of the fall. He started playing in the spring and loved it, so i signed him up for the fall season. I like the fall season better because they take the kids pictures and do a team photo. So his team color is red-raspberry. HA! YEAH! When we got to practice and his new coach handed out the jerseys to his all boy team they are....

Hot Pink!

I kid you not!

He was less than happy as were most of the boys on his team. Why on Gods earth would you put an all boys soccer team in Hot Pink! Talk about humiliating! He's already said he's gonna be embarrassed and he's afraid other kids are gonna make fun of him. Of course they are! I can't tell him not to worry and its no big deal because c'mon, seriously, they are six and seven years old. Of course its a big deal! I was thinking of sending an email to the director of youth soccer but i'm not sure if i should bother to make waves. But i'm really kinda pissed too. I don't want him to be embarrassed while playing soccer. Not to mention, i don't want the team photo and the individual pictures of him in a Hot Pink jersey!! He has his first game on saturday (if it doesn't get rained out) so when i take pics of him i'll post them and you can see for yourself. Hot Pink or Red-Raspberry?

In other news....over the long labor day weekend. Miss Blondie was asked out on 3...yes 3 dates!! Woo Hoo! I haven't been on a date in about 7 months! So let me tell you a bit about these prospects:

Mr. Universe is 16 years older than i am (huge difference), twice divorced, 2 daughters ages 12 and 18. He's a cop and a natural bodybuilder. I met him at my friends bf's party who is also a natural bodybuilder and most of their friends are as well. I however am not, but was asked by Mr. Universe to judge some show. He also invited me to a Patriots game. Hell Yeah! I got a voicemail the other day from him asking me out for brunch. What?! Brunch?! I've never been asked out for brunch before, but i'm open to anything...he is quite a bit older than i am.

Next is Blue Eyes. He is only 5 years older than me, spent most of the time playing with the kids (my son included). He is very smart....a professor at a college. Lives far, about an hour away. But he seems very sweet and considerate....he gave me his sweatshirt from his car when i was cold (and i kept it :) ) I'm hoping it doesn't all turn out to be an act.

Lastly is Hot Daddy. He is 2 years younger than i am...woot woot. He is currently separated from his wife and has two adorable, out of control, unsupervised children. He just seemed completely clueless and lost trying to watch and take care of his kids. But we'll see.

I'm thinking Blue Eyes is the most promising of prospects, but who knows, i keep an open mind and hope that they don't all turn into jerks. But with my luck, i'll probably end up going on one date with each of them and then deciding i don't like any of them. But don't worry, i'll keep you updated.
