What Kind of Blogger Am I??

Lately I've been doing a lot of "bloggy" soul searching. I'm trying to find my niche. I am not a review blogger. Yes i love doing reviews and giveaways but I also want content on my blog. I am not a mommy blogger. Yes I am a mom and I blog but I don't want to be categorized as such. When I first started this blog, I wanted to be a humor blog. I wanted to be funny and crass and blunt and vulgar. Why? Because that is how I am in real life.

Somewhere along the lines all that got lost. My true self does not come out on my blog. I know this. People who know me know this. My fellow Momdotters have told me this. Believe me, in person i am much more fun and outgoing. But you see, when I write I don't write the way I talk. Nope. I write as if I'm telling a story. I always have. I sit here and think about what I'm writing and what I want to say and how to say it. I'm doing it right now...instead of letting it all just flow out.

It's more than just what type of blogger I am, I want something more, bigger. And I'm not talking the next big review or that I want to be an A-list blogger. I want to be part of something. I want people online to know who I am. But I want something bigger than just my blog. And I'm not even sure what it is yet, but I'm hoping that if/when it falls into my lap that I will recognize it as my breakthrough opportunity.

So this is me. Nicole. Miss Blondie. I am no longer going to hold back. I'm not going to be afraid of offending anyone...if I offend you consider this my apology in advance. I'm going to be fun, crazy, blunt, sarcastic, crass, vulgar, silly, emotional at times, and real. I'm going to curse. I'm going to have reviews and giveaways. You're going to see me Vlog. I'm going to be real. I'm going to be me.

Buckle your seat belts and get ready for the RIDE!!

Chicken Pox in 2009??

When you watch this video notice how I purposely pronounce my "R"s. I find it hilarious that after 3 drinks I pronounce them.
Oh and I have NO idea what was on TV behind me. It was left on Nickelodeon or something.

I Swear I'm Not Obsessed

I do not own a laptop or a netbook or a blackberry or even an iPhone. Call me behind the times whatever but I do have a desktop. So the past couple days, I went down to the Cape(Cod) to visit my mother at her beach house and she doesn't have a computer down there or anything. So what should be a couple nice relaxing days by the beach is nothing of the sort.

I was losing my damn mind. I was having serious withdrawals being away from my computer. No seriously sweaty palms, fidgety, the works. I'm not even exaggerating, ask Gena and Jenna, they had to put up with my non-stop text messages. How is it that something I lived without owning up until about five years ago, I can't seem to live without now? I couldn't stand not being able to check my email and approve comments on my blog. What if by some miracle someone famous was trying to get a hold of me on twitter or something? What if I miss something so big and so huge, like Dooce visiting my blog?

Okay, so its all a little drastic, i know. But I couldn't even just google something real quick. And its not like I sit my ass in front of my computer all day either. I mean, seriously.....heh, who does that? Alright, so sometimes I do. Honestly though, I just like having the option to jump on the world wide web whenever I feel like it. Had I had a laptop or a netbook or anything, I would have been able to relax, even if i only used it for like 5 minutes. The option would be there.

As pathetic as this may sound, I left the Cape earlier than planned because I couldn't take it. I think most of it is in part due to BlogHer and how I feel like i have so much more that needs to get done before I go, ie. shopping. Before you start thinking that I am some blogging junky who really has no life other than her computer, let me just say that my mothers house on the Cape is only about an hour away from my house. No biggie. I tend to go down ALOT anyways. It's not like it was a real vacation.

So, I've come to the conclusion that I need a Netbook. Not a laptop, just a netbook. I don't need to upload my pictures or music or anything like that...I have all that on my desktop. I just need something that I can carry around with me and check my email and blog from. Thats all. I'm on the hunt for a Netbook, any suggestions?? I was looking at the cute Dell mini netbooks. Hmmm..

My Obsession

When I was a little girl I was obsessed with one thing. My obsession started to fizzle a little by the time I had graduated highschool. To do this day, this obsession still holds a special part in my heart but it is not near as important to me as it once was. It really was my life.

What was my obsession?

Hockey.

Boston Bruins hockey.

The good ole 90's hockey with Ray Bourque, Cam Neely, Adam Oates...just to name a few Bruins. They were also the days of Wayne Gretzky, Brett Hull, and Mario Lemieux. Yes, those all came from the top of my head...along with many others who are not named here. You see, I started watching hockey in the late 80's and my love for the game just grew. I used to collect hockey cards (proset, upperdeck, topps) and I even played street hockey with the boys...i was always goalie. Any trivia question you could throw at me, I knew the answer too. I can remember a lot even still from the 90's it was a true love affair I had with hockey.

In middle school and early high school my love affair turned obsessive. I made rules for hockey. I NEVER missed a Bruins game. I would make sure I was home for all 80+ games and no one could call me or come over during the games. Seriously, all my friends new if the Bruins were on, not to call. And even though the team wasn't the greatest, I was never a fair-weather fan. I stuck by my team. Even when Ray Bourque got traded to Colorado so that he could have a chance at winning the Stanley Cup (which he did btw), it was a bittersweet moment. Thats a true dedicated fan right there!

Late high school and after high school I finally got a life of my own. I was still a hockey fan though. But then the NHL lockout happened and I swear that totally changed the game for me. And I don't blame any one side for it, but after not having hockey for that one year i've never been able to get back into it the same way. However, I do still consider myself a fan. I still love going to games. Whether its a good thing or a bad thing, i don't watch nearly as many games as I did.

But let me tell you.....playoff hockey. Is. The. Best!! The Bruins played (and beat) Montreal last night in a great game. And this year the B's may actually have a shot at going all the way...which I have never witnessed in my lifetime. Its hard not to get into a hockey game when its the playoffs and fans are pumped (and hockey fans are the craziest!), the hits are harder, and the players play like its their last chance. I love it!! So even as I sit here and write this I'm bouncing around in my seat all pumped up just thinking about Game 2 tomorrow night.

Are there any other crazy hockey fans out there??

Go Bruins!

There Must Be an Easier Way

I should have posted this the other day but here is my gripe for the week. I live in a condo that is on the third floor. No elevator but three flights of stairs. Imagine little ole me at 5'2" and with about a dozen and a half bags of groceries struggling up and down all those stairs. Sure, I've mastered the art of hanging them all up and down my arms but even still....I can never get them all up in one trip. Never.

Forgive me if I sound desperate....but I am. I need to find an easier way to bring all my groceries in the house. By the time I get up the stairs with my first load I'm winded, thirsty, and achy. Yea, sure its pathetic but I'm okay with that. Looking at the stairs knowing I have to go down all three flights and then back up them again with heavy cargo (hey milk can be heavy), I want to throw myself down the stairs and hope I break something so I don't have to do it.

If anybody out there knows a good product that I can use to put all my crap necessities in and lug up the stairs in one trip, please share it with me. I promise to love you and your blog for forever! I also understand that this knowledge may be secretive but I am willing to bargain. Seriously, I am that desperate, there must be an easier way.

Block-tanic!

A sinking ship?

Think back to about 10 years ago. Its saturday night and you and your honey decide to stay in and rent a flick. But before you get all cozy on the couch and pop the popcorn where do you go? You head to Blockbuster Video Store. Maybe you head to the new release wall or maybe the romantic comedy....depending on your mood i guess.

Yeah, remember those days of renting movies at Blockbuster? You always had to worry what day they were due back to avoid the $3 late charges. That big chain drove all the mom and pop video rental stores right out of town. Now that was before we had Netflix, On Demand, DVR's, and soon followed by Blockbuster rentals online. So here's what i was thinking today.

How the hell is Blockbuster still in business?? Seriously! Does anybody even go to them anymore?? I can't even tell you the last time i went into a blockbuster video store. With things like On Demand, i can rent a movie from the comfort of my own couch. No more getting off my ass in sweatpants hopeing i dont run into anyone i know just to get a chick flick for my lonely self. I swear i dont know a single person who still rents videos from their store. And with the economy the way it is....how have they not filed for Chapter 11 yet?? I bet its secretly run by the government...or maybe the mafia.

Let's face it, if Blockbuster was a horse it would've been shot by now!

Resolutions??

Its almost time for those New Years Resolutions.
Do you have any?
Do you really believe in them?
These questions were asked to me by someone at work today and it got me thinking. My answer was no...to both. I don't make any resolutions because i know that after about 2 weeks i'll completely forget about it. But thats just how i am. I don't believe that we should resolve to better ourselves just because its a new year. I try to better myself whenever something happens in my life that makes me step back and re-evaluate things. I'm not judging people who do make resolutions...i think that's great for them especially if they can stick with it. I understand people saying that its a New Year which means they want a fresh start.
But, i think if you're not happy with yourself right now, why wait till the New Year?? You can have a fresh start every monday. Every day you rip off the calendar is a new day, fresh start.
This year especially, has been a HUGE growth year for me. I actually "found" myself again and i learned a lot about myself this year. But it was never a goal i intended to reach or any resolution i had made, it just happened. There was an incident last February that really helped me grow in so many ways, even though it was a terrible situation i really matured from it.
So, what are your thoughts on New Years Resolutions?
