Spooktacular Fun!!

First off, Happy Halloween everybody!! This morning i had volunteered to help Hunter's first grade class in pumpkin decorating. It ended up being held in the cafeteria and was all four of the first grade classes. I can't even tell you how excited i was to be helping out....i'm such a dork! I wore an orange shirt with a pumpkin face on it...bought especially for this occasion. I have so much fun helping out in Hunters school, i want to do it more often. Statistics show that kids who have parents involved in the school do better. But lets be honest here...i'm doing it more for my own amusement and entertainment. I absolutely loved helping the kids as much as possible. I probably should have either gone into teaching or done pediatric nursing. Or maybe i love it so much because i only have one kid. I even offered to help out with the Christmas craft fair and breakfast. I'm pretty much willing to do whatever i can as long as its on thursday or friday (my days off). I especially can't wait for field trips. Woo Hoo!! I know i'm a geek!!

The kids were so funny saying things like, "Mrs. Hunters mom?" and "you're really Hunters mom?" I could tell he loved me being there too, not just because he kept wrapping his arms around me hugging me, or because he told EVERYBODY i was his mom.

Now, i'm looking forward to trick or treating tonight and then we're going to a kids halloween party afterwards for a couple hours...which should be fun. I get so enthusiastic about things its funny. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween!!

A Not-So Secret Santa

My son is 7. I've been hiding Christmas presents for 7 years. I have to admit, i'm one of those crazy, obnoxious people who gets their Christmas shopping done by Thanksgiving. I do it for a number of reasons. I hate lines and crowds. And i like to make sure i get the things he wants before the rush starts and i can't find them anywhere. I like to consider myself a pretty experienced present hider. Or so i thought! I always hide all the "Santa" presents in my closet in a corner and push all my dresses and jackets to that end to cover them. I put them in plastic bins in my closet and on top of them (but hidden of course). He's too young to even consider snooping or anything, so i'm usually confident that he wont find them.

Ha!

Yeah!

Until just the other day. Without me knowing he went into my closet to get something. And when he came out the conversation went like this:

Hunter: "Were you gonna get me guitar hero for Christmas?" Now, what he doesn't know is that my mother got him Wii for xmas and that's what guitar hero is for.

Me: "I don't know, why?" Still not knowing he was in my closet and where this was going.

Hunter: "Oh because i just saw it in your closet."

Me: like a deer in headlights, "What else did you see in there?"

Hunter: "nothing really," now realizing maybe that was a mistake.

Me: "Tell me what else you saw."

Hunter: "Um...legos and a spider man thing." What he actually saw were the lincoln logs and an aircraft carrier with a True Heroes logo in the corner and assumed it was spider man. Whew! Dodged a bullet there!!

Me: "ok, well the guitar hero is for you for Christmas and all the other toys are for the other kids." Not including Hunter, i have 12 kids to buy presents for.

Hunter: "Oh yeah, i know. The spider man thing is for Liam, huh?"

Me: "Yup. Now no more going in my closet."

I. Was. Devastated.

My baby almost figured out the secret to Christmas!! I want him to believe, seriously, until he has kids! I think i handled it okay, luckily he didn't find ALL the presents... and the ones he saw i'll just wrap different and say they're from me so he doesn't suspect anything. But damnit! Now i have to go spend more money on shit from Santa!!

Guess next year i'll be hiding the presents someplace else!

At a lull....

For no apparent reason, other than my own laziness and lack of desire to sit in front of the computer for long periods of time, i have been at a lull from blogging. And believe me, there are so many stories to share!! Things with Moose are moving ahead. Woo hoo. However, i'm still just letting things take their own course. Not getting my hopes up about anything....it will all work itself out. I heard some great advice: Just take it for what it is.

I'm at work right now, where i never blog from, but i'm waiting for my next patient to arrive for surgery and i miss blogging!!! I'm feeling really crappy right now. I'm getting a cold that Hunter had last weekend. And i will admit....i'm a big baby. My throat is so sore, i keep coughing, and my head is pounding. See, i told you i'm a baby....only when i'm sick though. Its always worse at work because we wear these masks and let me tell you they intensify your cold by like a thousand percent. No lie! Well here comes my patient, i'll blog more later.

Another year older....

Today is my birthday. I am probably one of those few people in the world who actually likes my birthday. I don't mind getting older. In fact, i love it. But here's the sad part....every summer i round my age up....so this year i've actually convinced myself i was turning 28. Reality check! I turn 27. How awful is that?!? I've completely confused the hell out of myself and now i can't grasp the fact that i am a year younger than i thought. What a weirdo!

My birthday has pretty much been an all week celebration. Tuesday i had cake at work. Wednesday i had cake at work. Tonight i'll be out celebrating. And of course, this weekend is a long weekend, so i'm sure i'll be tearing it up then too. I usually never do anything on my birthday but this year i am totally taking advantage of this once a year opportunity.

At work, one of the guys i work with had one of the surgeons convinced that i was turning 30 and i was in denial and upset about it. And i mean convinced. So yesterday he made signs that read, "Happy 30th birthday (miss blondie's real name)" and posted them in the OR. I couldn't help but laugh. And what i don't think he fully realizes is that, 30 wouldn't bother me. I embrace every age i turn. I'm not afraid to turn 30, however i still have 3 more years.

Where Have I Been?!?

I know you're all probably wondering: where has Miss Blondie been? She has written on her blog. She hasn't been reading and commenting on others. Where is she?

Well, the truth is, i've been right here. Completely lazy when it comes to sitting down at the computer. My deepest apologies for anyone who has missed me. I actually have much to update you all on too.

First up, an update on my MRI. I had it exactly one week ago today for the first time ever. And Thank God i'm not claustrophobic!! I went into the machine feet first but i could definitely see how you could get nervous in one of those things. However, i found it relaxing. Weird, i know. I just layed there with the headphones on listening to a radio station of my choice. I probably would have fallen asleep except i kept having to hold my breath. So anyways, the results of the MRI are in! Are you ready for this?!?

I have a hepatic adenoma.

A what?

Its a benign tumor completely unrelated to the fall i took at work. It's, believe it or not, actually caused from birth control pills! So off the pills i came! No more B.C. for me....damn! Now i have to have a follow up MRI in three months to make sure the adenoma has shrunk and if it hasn't i may have to have it biopsied or possibly resected. But we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. They said once you stop the pills it should shrink....so let's just see how my luck is. You know the saying, "everything happens for a reason," well that proves so true in this situation because had i not fallen at work and needed a CT scan and then an MRI they never would have found it. And if i never found it and continued on the pill it could have grown into a cancerous tumor. Can you believe that shit?!?

So i looked up hepatic adenomas to find out everything that i could about it. And 4 out of 100,000 women get them from the pill. Now why don't they have that written as one of the warnings?? Hmmmm.....

In other news, last weekend we went to Maine and i test judged my first bodybuilding show. The promoter said i nailed 97% of the scores for the whole competition. He said i was the best first time judge he's ever had. Go me, go me. Now, i only have to test judge one more show and then i can be certified. I had so much fun doing it too. It's weird though, because i don't find them attractive at all. I like my men to have a little pouch in the belly....a little. I want to lay my head on something soft not a rock. But i really do enjoy judging them and apparently i'm not half bad at it.

And now the news you've all been waiting for: Moose! So Moose and i went out on sunday to watch his friends irish band play at a small bar. After a few drinks, we decided to get pizza and bring it back to his place. Oh, but first we had to stop at the firehouse of course. The weirdest part about visiting there, is all the firefighters act like they haven't seen a girl in 10 years!! Seriously. It's the funniest thing. After our pit stop, we went back to his place and had pizza and watched football. And since he lives on my way home from work, i stopped by his place after work on monday. And on wednesday after work i stopped by the firehouse to see him. Oh and yes Swirl Girl....he is part irish! (all 6'4" of him)!!

So thats all the excitement going on here in Miss Blondie's world! I promise to come visit you all and drop comment love!!
