In all seriousness, after i wrote my last post about Throwing in the Towel I felt better. It always feels so much better to just get it off my chest and write all my thoughts down. I woke up today feeling better and decided not to quit my blog. After all, where else can I bitch and moan and not give a crap.
I love to write.
I always have.
My blog is for me. I write for me.
I am OK with just the way I am, and my blog being just the way it is. It's what I want.
Now that you are all jumping up and down in your seats because I'm staying....you can sit now, I'm gonna switch gears. Today was Hunter's first day of 2nd grade. He was up and alert at 7am and excited like it was Christmas or something.
He says, "Momma, today's the first day of school." As he's bouncing around in excitement. He gets himself dressed in one of his new shirts and a pair of cargo shorts. He put on deodorant and Axe body spray.
2nd grade.
Brushes his long ass hippy hair. Okay, so its not that long, but he still looks like he belongs on a surfboard in California....we're in Boston. I have to say he did look so handsome!
But deodorant and Axe body spray?? He smelled like a man. Which of course is what he wants....that's cool, right? And don't even say to yourself, well who bought him that stuff? I don't want to hear it.
My point is, my baby, my one and only is growing up so damn fast. WTF!
I feel like someone's sitting on my chest. For real. Tears keep streaming down my face and I can't seem to make them stop. I'm emotionally drained. I feel like my soul has been through the ringer. I'm having some very personal issues right now and its such a tough time for me. Actually, most of this summer has been a tough time for me.
Just when you need people the most, they split. Too consumed by their ownselves. But when does it all end? When will I hit the bottom so that I can start climbing back up?
I've been trying to find my niche in the blogosphere. I want something more....more than just my blog. And I can't seem to find it, and i'm starting to think I probably never will. I am in all honesty so close to closing my blog. I'm starting to think no one would even notice I was gone. I don't have a big following at all. I would just be another statistic....just another blogger that quit after a little more than a year of blogging. They would say, "she couldn't take the pressure." Or some stupid shit remark like that.
For a while I felt like I belonged. I felt like part of the "crowd." But just as quickly I feel like I don't belong anymore. Like an outsider. I've made some friends online, but honestly if I quit blogging today....would any of them still talk to me offline?
I'm feeling super stressed and extremely anxious and I just needed to let some stuff off my chest. Unfortunately for me....it still feels like someone is sitting there comfortably, not wanting to move.
Lately I've been doing a lot of "bloggy" soul searching. I'm trying to find my niche. I am not a review blogger. Yes i love doing reviews and giveaways but I also want content on my blog. I am not a mommy blogger. Yes I am a mom and I blog but I don't want to be categorized as such. When I first started this blog, I wanted to be a humor blog. I wanted to be funny and crass and blunt and vulgar. Why? Because that is how I am in real life.
Somewhere along the lines all that got lost. My true self does not come out on my blog. I know this. People who know me know this. My fellow Momdotters have told me this. Believe me, in person i am much more fun and outgoing. But you see, when I write I don't write the way I talk. Nope. I write as if I'm telling a story. I always have. I sit here and think about what I'm writing and what I want to say and how to say it. I'm doing it right now...instead of letting it all just flow out.
It's more than just what type of blogger I am, I want something more, bigger. And I'm not talking the next big review or that I want to be an A-list blogger. I want to be part of something. I want people online to know who I am. But I want something bigger than just my blog. And I'm not even sure what it is yet, but I'm hoping that if/when it falls into my lap that I will recognize it as my breakthrough opportunity.
So this is me. Nicole. Miss Blondie. I am no longer going to hold back. I'm not going to be afraid of offending anyone...if I offend you consider this my apology in advance. I'm going to be fun, crazy, blunt, sarcastic, crass, vulgar, silly, emotional at times, and real. I'm going to curse. I'm going to have reviews and giveaways. You're going to see me Vlog. Today I was lucky enough to witness history. Not only myself but my son too. And even though it may not mean anything to him now, in the future it will. It was one of those unforgettable once in a lifetime moments.
Yesterday Senator Ted Kennedy passed away in the early morning hours. Ted Kennedy did a lot for our state of Massachusetts. Whether you are democrat, republican, liberal, or even green you can not deny the fact that he was passionate about the causes he believed in and was a great man. And in true Kennedy fashion they held a procession from Hyannisport all the way to Boston. Since I live right next to a major highway I took Hunter and walked to the side of the highway.
I was amazed at how many people were standing on the overpasses and even on the side of the highway where we were, just waiting for them to go by. People were even pulled over on the highway and got out of there cars just to watch. When they did finally drive by us, the windows in the motorcade were down and they were waving out the windows to all the people showing support. It really made me realized that they are truly thankful and grateful that of the outpouring of love shown by the American people. I watched all the cars go by and tears started to flow. The realization that this will be his last trip. I actually feel really lucky that i was able to witness this event. It gives me both American and Massachusetts pride.

This is one of those moments where in the future both myself and Hunter will be able to look back on and say, "We were standing on the side of the highway watching." To me, I just witnessed history and that is awesome.

Last night I fell asleep on the couch watching Big Brother After Dark which airs on Showtime on the east coast from midnight to 3 am. I'm not sure what time I fell asleep but I do know what time I woke up.
3:36am.
I was woken up by the sound of my seven year olds voice standing next to the couch. "Mommy what are you watching?" Think about the time of day it is. I open my eyes and glance over at the t.v. only to see naked bodies kissing and rubbing. Yes, soft porn.
I jump up and find the remote, hit power, and bring him back to bed.
So, today we are driving along and I'm really hoping that maybe he has forgotten what he had seen on the tv. God only knows how long he had been standing there. Well my hopes are quickly turned to fear when he asks me again what I was watching. I tell him I wasn't watching that and I had fallen asleep earlier watching something else. I then ask him what he saw.
After much giggling and embarrassment he tells me he saw naked people rubbing against each other. Thank you Showtime. Now, would you like to explain the birds and the bees to my 7 year old, because I sure as hell am not ready for this conversation.
I tell him thats gross and end the conversation there.
Now, I am all for watching porn or whatever you gotta do to help with the deed. However.... soft porn first of all sucks. Does anybody really "get off" on it? If you want to watch porn buy or rent one. There are dedicated channels for it. Why do my movie channels that I subscribe to, specifically for the movies, need to have soft porn at all?
So, thank you again Showtime for introducing my 7 year old to sex and soft porn. I will be cancelling my subscription now.

For three weeks I am part of a team of bloggers participating in an Ingenious Challenge. The winner of the challenge gets to donate $10,000 towards a teachers charity, Donors Choose. I can't even express to you how excited I am to be a part of this. So, we all have the chance as a community to be part of this together.

Here's my first challenge:
I want you to break up your day...morning, afternoon, and night. Find a task that you would like to make simple and easy. How might we simplify our lives so that we can get more joy for less work? For this first challenge lets start with the morning tasks. Think about your daily morning routine....what do you wish could be done quicker and easier??
What is PMDD? Premenstrual dysphoric disorder, a severe form of premenstrual syndrome. Basically think of your PMS and multiply it by like 600. Yes, its really that bad. I had post-partum depression really bad after I had Hunter and as a result, I now suffer from PMDD. So, for 3 to 5 days two weeks before I get Aunt Flo I get extreme emotions. Whether it be anger, crying, depressed, anxious....they are to the extreme.
PMDD is a real disease. One that I have had for a few years and thought that i could overcome it on my own. But last year, i realized that I couldn't and I needed help. I talked to my doctor and was officially diagnosed and put on Prozac. Ahhh, the love of Prozac. Originally I was put on 20mg of Prozac along with Yaz as birth control. Honestly, that was the best combination. I swear I have never felt better in my life.
....And then it was discovered that I had a hepatic adenoma caused from the pill. So no more Yaz for me. My dose of Prozac was then increased to 40mg. Most of the time I feel pretty good, but because I can get so down during that 3 to 5 day period I am allowed to double my dosage. Yes, apparently I am that crazy.
The reason I'm sharing all this with you now, is because I never felt really comfortable talking about it publicly. But, now i realize that I am not the only person with this and maybe i could help someone else going through the same situation. I am not embarrassed. And I am not ashamed anymore. Right now, I'm having a hard time. I'm feeling sad, lonely and depressed. I absolutely HATE this feeling. I just cry and sleep and don't want to do anything. Its awful as a mom too because I feel so guilty. He knows something is wrong but doesn't understand it at all and it makes him sad too. I'm hoping that by opening up and sharing this with you all that it will help me feel better.
I need to get back to my peppy self already!

As if you couldn't already tell I have a "thing" for Eden Fantasys. Let me admit, that before Eden Fantasy's came knocking on my door, i only owned one vibrator. Yes, just one! Can you believe that? Alright, so on to the review. Well Drew from Eden Fantasys happens to be one of my favorite reps. Why? Because he is so easy and comfortable to talk to and he never lets me down. This time around I told him to surprise me with something fun. And a few days later, it came. Now this adult toy is something totally different than I have ever used or even expected.
I received the Sparkle Scepter Glass dildo. This is my first and only glass dildo that i own. Naturally, I start thinking it's glass. Afraid of breakage and shattering and all the unpleasantries that go along with it but I took the time to read the box and look it up on the internet and was convinced that it would be safe. It is made from highly durable tempered glass.
This is a very pretty dildo...it has pink on it! This would be a great, fun dildo if you and your significant other wanted to add a little excitement to the bedroom. What I found really neat about the glass dildos is that you can ice it up or heat it up for some different sensations. I had a lot of fun using it myself, however I can't seem to get off unless I have some vibrating action going on too. The bumps on it are not rough at all, they actually feel quite nice. The knob on the end is perfectly shaped and sized for control of movement. My recommendation is to keep the box and packaging because it doesn't come with a protective sleeve or anything. I always return mine to the box and sit it in the styrofoam so it doesn't break. Also becuase it is glass...super easy to clean. You could even stick it in the diswasher if you wanted to but water and soap also do just fine.
Overall I think this is a perfect little product. So thank you again to Drew at Eden Fantasys for expanding my *um* collection a little further.
I chose the Cookies N Cream Singular Sensations cake and I'm not even kidding when I tell you that Hunter and I devoured that cake in one sitting. I was happy but my waistline probably wasn't. We literally opened it the second we were done with dinner. It was such a perfectly size cake for the two of us...okay so I probably didn't need help eating it and it was in the cutest little box and included a greeting card. Yes, packaging does count. To be completely honest, sitting here writing this kinda sucks because my mouth is watering just thinking about how delicious that cake was.......and now its gone. It was perfectly moist and just yummy in every way. I probably even licked the box when I was done, I can't remember I was in such a state of bliss. I do not own a laptop or a netbook or a blackberry or even an iPhone. Call me behind the times whatever but I do have a desktop. So the past couple days, I went down to the Cape(Cod) to visit my mother at her beach house and she doesn't have a computer down there or anything. So what should be a couple nice relaxing days by the beach is nothing of the sort.
I was losing my damn mind. I was having serious withdrawals being away from my computer. No seriously sweaty palms, fidgety, the works. I'm not even exaggerating, ask Gena and Jenna, they had to put up with my non-stop text messages. How is it that something I lived without owning up until about five years ago, I can't seem to live without now? I couldn't stand not being able to check my email and approve comments on my blog. What if by some miracle someone famous was trying to get a hold of me on twitter or something? What if I miss something so big and so huge, like Dooce visiting my blog?
Okay, so its all a little drastic, i know. But I couldn't even just google something real quick. And its not like I sit my ass in front of my computer all day either. I mean, seriously.....heh, who does that? Alright, so sometimes I do. Honestly though, I just like having the option to jump on the world wide web whenever I feel like it. Had I had a laptop or a netbook or anything, I would have been able to relax, even if i only used it for like 5 minutes. The option would be there.
As pathetic as this may sound, I left the Cape earlier than planned because I couldn't take it. I think most of it is in part due to BlogHer and how I feel like i have so much more that needs to get done before I go, ie. shopping. Before you start thinking that I am some blogging junky who really has no life other than her computer, let me just say that my mothers house on the Cape is only about an hour away from my house. No biggie. I tend to go down ALOT anyways. It's not like it was a real vacation.
So, I've come to the conclusion that I need a Netbook. Not a laptop, just a netbook. I don't need to upload my pictures or music or anything like that...I have all that on my desktop. I just need something that I can carry around with me and check my email and blog from. Thats all. I'm on the hunt for a Netbook, any suggestions?? I was looking at the cute Dell mini netbooks. Hmmm..
Taking pictures is one of my favorite things to do. I am by no means a great photographer at all. But I love taking pictures anyways, just to capture all of life's moments. And since I'm no professional, I look for camera's that can help me take amazing photographs. Casio's high speed Exilim digital camera does just that.
I can't even tell you how thrilled I was to get a chance to review Casio's Exilim EX-S5 digital camera. When it first arrived, right off the bat, I was amazed at how slim and compact the camera is. The color was awesome too, blue. The LCD screen was larger than my previous camera and there were a lot less buttons. My previous camera had a turn button on the back to change the settings to night, scenery, movie, etc. I was constantly accidently turning the button and it would change the setting and of course, I wouldn't notice until after I took the picture. This camera (thankfully) does not have that. Instead it has normal buttons to change the settings. Some camera's I think take a while to figure everything out and get adjusted to how it works, but I found this camera to be rather simple. Probably due to the fact that there were fewer buttons, but the functions were all there.
I have used this camera just about every day since I got it. I brought it with me when I recently went out with a group of girlfriends and they were all impressed with its high speed. Meaning, we didn't have to wait for forty flashes before it took the picture. It takes the picture in exceptional speed. My two favorite functions is the face detection and Best Shot mode. Best Shot mode allows you to take the best quality picture possible in certain settings (23) such as scenery, portrait, food, sports, flowers, sundown, etc. I am really happy with the way my pictures have turned out using these settings.
