Ode to BlogHer '09

So my friend Greg over at Telling Dad, unfortunately wasn't at BlogHer '09 but of course heard all the buzz and couldn't control himself from singing the events. He is one of the only dads on the MomDot forum and we truly *heart* him over there.

Here is your warning: go pee right now, even if you don't think you have to. Grab a kleenex to wipe your tears from laughing so hard.

Oh, and the cleavage sugar packets line....totally about me! Kim managed to flick a packet of sugar into my cleavage. So thanks for the shout out Greg!!

BlogHer 09- Would I do it Again?

I'm not so sure. Not to say that I didn't have an incredible time meeting with some of my favorite bloggers and the connections I made but the conference itself? Not my thing. I didn't attend any classes but only because I didn't want to. I personally don't think I need some self-proclaimed blogging guru to tell me how to blog. I blog for me. And I blog the way I want to blog. Besides I belong to an extremely helpful community already, so anything I need to know, I ask them.

It was pretty sad to see women tackling each other like football players over swag. Seriously? I know the economy is bad but reality people! The invite only parties were in my opinion, obnoxious. And not just because I didn't get invited to any but thats not a great way to network with new bloggers. The cocktail parties that I did attend were not all that great. Way too many people. People were cliquey and not interested in connecting with new people. So basically if you didn't know them before BlogHer, you probably wouldn't know them after. I can count on one hand how many bloggers I met that I didn't know online before.

I really only went to meet all the girls that i've been friends with online in real life. I walked away with some great friendships that will last a long time. It was awesome meeting everyone in real life and just hanging out like old friends. I had a great time touring the city of Chicago with my girls. Chicago is a beautiful city.

Oh, and I met my long lost twin...Kadi from Womb at the Innsane. Yes, we were separated at birth:

And of course, when there are large groups of women together for a few days you can always count on drama, fights, drunks, and nudity. Did you think stuff like that wouldn't happen when there are 1200+ women together??

So, would I do it again? Probably not. For the amount of money I spent while there and to get there, I'm not sure BlogHer was all that worth it. I would much rather do a Momdot meetup and just spend more time building the relationships i have already made. It would be less expensive, no stupid boring classes and it would be more intimate. Which makes it much more meaningful.

Well those are my thoughts for now on this past weekend. And i'm sure once i've had more time to process everything i'll have more to say.

iRobot Summit

A couple days ago I was lucky enough to get a chance to go to the iRobot Summit here in Boston. I was one of 9 bloggers chosen to participate in a "That's Ingenious" Challenge in which iRobot (they make the Roomba) and mom bloggers are partnering up to innovate and give back . I'm not going to tell you just yet what it was all about, but you'll all have the opportunity to contribute. I'll tell you exactly what it is after BlogHer. Hehe...i know i'm mean keeping you all in suspense.

What I will tell you, is that I had the pleasure of meeting some incredible bloggers. On Wednesday night I attended a welcoming dinner hosted by iRobot and Fleishman-Hillard. Thats where I was introduced to the other 8 fabulous ladies who will make up Team Ingenuity. Those women are Trisha from Momdot, Stacie from Divine Miss Mommy, Ali from Blissfully Domestic, Kelby from Type-A Mom, Nicole from Momfuse, Ali from Chip Chick, Niri from MommyNiri, Jo-Lynne from Musings of a Housewife, and myself of course. I also had the honor of meeting Jessica Smith and Stacey Debroff from MomCentral (she gave me a hug) *smile*.

Thursday we visited the iRobot headquarters, got a tour, a mini-makeover, photo shoot (my first ever headshots), and we learned exactly what we will be doing with iRobot. I promise you it is great stuff. So let me tell you a little about my experience with the iRobot team. iRobot is a totally fun place to work, it makes me wish I went to MIT just so I could work there. I learned so much about what iRobot does, I had no idea. Not only do they make the Roomba and other household cleaning robots but did you know that 50% of their robots are made for the military? So a majority of what iRobot does is saving soldiers lives on a daily basis. These robots go into danger zones before the soldier does to check it all out. Now as the sister and granddaughter of Marines, this really hit home with me. I actually got teary-eyed during dinner when they were explaining it. I never knew iRobot did that! They also go into classrooms and schools and show off the robots and demonstrate them for the kids as a way to promote science and math. Seriously, what kid doesn't like robots?

My personal opinion about iRobot as a company is what they do is just beyond amazing and I feel its so vital and important to our future in so many different ways. I am really impressed by what I learned about this company and am really glad I had this chance. Go iRobot!!

Eden Fantasy's- Review #4

As if you couldn't already tell I have a "thing" for Eden Fantasys. Let me admit, that before Eden Fantasy's came knocking on my door, i only owned one vibrator. Yes, just one! Can you believe that? A 20-something single woman with only one sex toy. Through these reviews I have become a lot more comfortable in my sexuality and even talking about it. No shyness here!!

Alright, so on to the review. Well Drew from Eden Fantasys happens to be one of my favorite reps. Why? Because he is so easy and comfortable to talk to and he never lets me down. This time around I told him to surprise me with something fun. And a few days later, it came. Now this adult toy is something totally different than I have ever used or even expected. I received the Sparkle Scepter Glass dildo. This is my first and only glass dildo that i own. Naturally, I start thinking it's glass. Afraid of breakage and shattering and all the unpleasantries that go along with it but I took the time to read the box and look it up on the internet and was convinced that it would be safe. It is made from highly durable tempered glass.

This is a very pretty dildo...it has pink on it! This would be a great, fun dildo if you and your significant other wanted to add a little excitement to the bedroom. What I found really neat about the glass dildos is that you can ice it up or heat it up for some different sensations. I had a lot of fun using it myself, however I can't seem to get off unless I have some vibrating action going on too. The bumps on it are not rough at all, they actually feel quite nice. The knob on the end is perfectly shaped and sized for control of movement. My recommendation is to keep the box and packaging because it doesn't come with a protective sleeve or anything. I always return mine to the box and sit it in the styrofoam so it doesn't break. Also becuase it is glass...super easy to clean. You could even stick it in the diswasher if you wanted to but water and soap also do just fine.


Overall I think this is a perfect little product. So thank you again to Drew at Eden Fantasys for expanding my *um* collection a little further.
